In this post, we’re exploring confidence building ideas and strategies. True empowerment begins from within and confidence is a cornerstone in our ability to navigate life’s ups and downs.
Personal empowerment (aka self assurance) is an unwavering self-belief that propels us forward on any journey. But how do we cultivate it?

Focus on a Positive Body Image:Â
Your body is where you live, every day. Your ‘forever’ home, so embrace and celebrate it for its strength and uniqueness. Take a few moments each day to focus on your physical strength and everything your body can do.
Did you crush your last workout? How did you feel as you crossed the finish for that 5k race? What about the energy you had to carry you through your busy day?
Celebrate and thank your body for all the ways it supports you. And instead of focusing on what you don’t like about your body, practice gratitude for all it allows you to do.

Practice Public Speaking:
Practice speaking confidently in front of others. Feeling shy? Practice in front of a mirror or in front of your stuffed animals until you get more comfortable.
Start small, like raising your hand more often in class or asking thoughtful questions. This will help you get more comfortable with public speaking.
Does your group need someone to present a topic or project? Volunteer to do it. Take every opportunity you can to get in front of a group of people and work on improving your speaking skills. This will help boost your confidence.
The more you get in front of others, especially strangers, and you work on articulating your viewpoints, the more prepared you will be for interviews and on stage questions.
Think of it like this. Each time you put yourself in the *slightly* uncomfortable position of public speaking, it becomes easier and less scary. And over time, your confidence will grow because you are training yourself to be comfortable in front of an audience.
Seek out Professional Development:
Look for workshops or classes that will enhance the skills needed for your pageant. Think about taking professional communications or even branding courses. These can help you zero in on your platform and help you communicate why it so important to you.
You could also consider acting or modeling classes. Improv classes are a great way to build confidence, make friends and decrease stress through laughter! Plus these types of classes encourage you to take a more laid back, carefree approach to your on stage presence. This is definitely something that could come in handy when any pageant nerves kick in!
You could even push yourself out of your comfort zone by taking a ropes course or a ziplining course. These athletic activities are great ways to challenge yourself and build confidence in a safe, but exciting atmosphere. You’ll rely on your own strength and determination to get through these fun group activities.
When you’ve conquered fears and hesitations in one area of life, it makes it much easier to tackle other areas head on!

Celebrate Your Achievements:
The best way to continue growing confidence, is to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, both big and small, throughout the entire process.
The momentum of achievement is contagious. The strength that emerges when we embrace our unique qualities and believe in our potential should be celebrated often.
You can even reward yourself after reaching specific milestones in your training or pageant preparation.
I truly hope these actionable tips help you grow your confidence, whether you’re aiming to step on-stage or simply embrace everyday victories. Remember, with a confident heart, no obstacle is too large. It’s time to greet life with self assurance, resilience and grace.
